I've always wanted to be a teacher, it's all I've ever wanted to do. After 18 years of teaching, I still love it and wouldn't want to do anything else.

I grew up in Champaign, IL, where my mother still lives. I went to college at the University of Georgia and majored in Early Childhood Education and Child and Family Development. After graduation in 1985, I began my career in Marion County, TN,  teaching Kindergarten for 2 years. In 1987, I married my husband Mike and I moved schools, teaching Kindergarten at Snow Hill Hill Elementary School in Ooltewah, TN. In 1990, I left teaching for 20 years to raise my 5 children. I received my masters degree in Elementary Education at the University of Chattanooga. I returned to teaching in 2010, teaching Kindergarten in Elizabethown, KY.  In 2015, we moved to Paducah and I began teaching at HES, first in 5th grade and then in 3rd. This is my 4th year teaching 1st. I completed my National Board Certification in Early Literacy in December of 2019. I am passionate about reading and I am excited to share my love of reading with my students.

Reading is a family affair at my house. It started with my parents reading to me and my husband and I in turn read to our kids. I love books! When I’m not reading, I enjoy to exercising, cooking, gardening, and spending time with my family!

I am wife to Mike and Mom to Anna (32), Rica (30), Noah(28) & his wife Amy (28), Mia (26), Jana (24) and a 2 yr. old puppy named Roxy. I'm 'Peach' to my granddaughter, Edith. My husband Mike is the boy’s soccer coach at McCracken County High School. This job has moved us through several states, including Texas, West Virginia and South Carolina.  We love living in Paducah and enjoy hosting family and friends whenever we get the chance!

Books make me smile!
